Principal Eric Hovee began his economic development career with the City of Portland in the mid-1970s — laying the groundwork for the city's first organized business and industrial development program outside the downtown area. In addition to managing E. D. Hovee & Company, he currently serves on the board of directors or as an officer of several non-profit community organizations. The consulting firm was formed in 1984 around this core economic development practice — with early work in socioeconomic data and assessment. A long-standing commitment to downtown and neighborhood sustainability has evolved into a broader practice for sustainable communities.
